Terror and TV Commercials

If this sounds merely petulant, I apologize. But I've been watching too much of the Boston Marathon horrors being interrupted by TV commercials. Commercials seem to be mediating terror, as though, whatever happens, it's at least briefly normal again – another interlude for selling. It speaks of the commercial nature of today's media, it's probably unavoidable, but it's desensitizing at times like these - times we need to be engaged, emphathetic with victims and all trying to figure out where we are. Selling should wait for another time.
